ABOUT OUR SCHOOL
Excitement abounds at Eagle Cove School. The minute you reach the campus, you hear it in the children’s laughter and see it in the enthusiastic way they approach learning. Something special is going on here for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade. Through our yearly Otis Lennon assessments, we confidently can say we work with a community of bright students. For over fifty years, Eagle Cove School (formerly Gibson Island Country School) has been providing an excellent education for girls and boys in Pre-kindergarten through Fifth grade. Within a supportive and nurturing environment, students build a strong foundation for the future through a challenging and comprehensive academic program.

Using an interdisciplinary and spiraling curriculum, the core of which is language arts and math, our teachers work to build upon each child’s strengths and provide appropriate challenges while also identifying individual areas that may need strengthening. Starting in Pre-kindergarten, students are not only introduced to the basics of the core curriculum, but also participate in social studies, science, Spanish, computer, library, art, music and physical education. Woven throughout the curriculum for all students are both environmental consciousness through our waterfront studies program and values education.
Serious learning is the focus of our days.
Eagle Cove School has at its core a sense of belonging and excitement that remains constant. This is our students’ first home away from home and it remains a safe harbor for them over the years. Each time they return, whether it is the year after they graduate or forty years later, alums comment on the exciting new programs and traditions they discover. Yet, they also welcome the sense of familiarity that surrounds the School.
Despite the change and growth that is essential to a vibrant school community, there is something intangible and important that remains constant and nurturing. It is reflected in the children’s intent and eager faces in the classroom, the sound of their laughter on the playground, and in the warm and trusting relationships that they share with their teachers. It is evident every time a student makes a new discovery and in the sharing that takes place all day long.
Serious learning is the focus of our days. However, we are just as serious about instilling in every student a sense of confidence that will lead to a lifelong love of learning and an appreciation of honor and integrity that will lead to a lifetime of good citizenship. Every one of our graduates follows a different path after ECS, but each of them goes out into the world well prepared, possessing the basic skills and tools that they need for success in middle school and beyond.
